LISTEN

Rock n Roll is a rare Cd that has been in demand for collectors for over two decades.  The Cd was produced in 1989 at Music Box Studios in Hollywood, Ca.  Later Kris would purchase the studio.  The Cd was inspired by a song everyone was talking about when the band performed at the famous Roxy, "Rock n Roll."

The next two songs "Round and Round," and  "Inside Out" were recorded for a compilation that was to coincided with the band headlining the rock stage at SXSW. The songs were mixed the night before the band emabarked on a Texas tour in support of their SXSW performance.  Upon returning to Hollywood, the group returned to the studio to complete the Cd.   "Rock n Roll was the beginning of the most exciting time for the band. It was in that studio that we found our sound. We worked night after night on the record.  I was producing and engineering so it was stressful, but rewarding.  The band was rehearsing for the Cd and the tour to support the record.  I remember that time as if it was yesterday and it was the best time in the history of KK Wilde."

                                                                       Kris Kurry

Upon completion of the Cd the band performed a Sold Out show at The Roxy.

Four labels attended but the band was dead set on releasing "Rock n Roll" on Platinum Records. The problems that Kris had faced in Kid Curry dealing with Major Labels led him to that decision.  Next Warner Brothers Music and Film came knocking.  The President of Warner Pictures wanted to license all the songs on "Rock n Roll"  for feature films, TV show and and Movies of The Week.  Kris agreed and kept all publishing on all songs so the choice to maintain in complete control was smart and savy.  "Aint No Doubt" was released as a single and hit Number #1 on Pirate Radio for 6 weeks across the Nation.  Warner selected three tracks for the movie "Showdown in Little Tokyo" staring Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee.  "Life Goes On" used 10 of the songs and two of them were in the EMMY winning season finale.  The band was making major major waves, selling out shows and had a fan base that was as large as some of the MTV top charting bands.  The band was approached by a world reknown video director coming off a Madona video.  They agreed to work together and created the music video for "Rock n Roll."  The video hit #8 on MTV UK, top 20 on MTV and #1 on Japan MTV.   The band was also being feature in top magazines and was gaining major label interest but on their terms. Kris maintained control and was ahead of his time as one of the few bands that made major label money with their own product.  Now original copies of this Cd is selling for thousands of dollars with one selling for $5,000 on Ebay in 2006.

While "Rock n Roll" is a rare Cd, especially finding a first run copy, the band's follow-up "Cocaine Cowboy" is one of the hardest Cd's to purchase of 80's hair band groups.  This Cd, singed copy, can sell for as high as $4,000 to $5,000.  The story behind the making of this record is like a movie script straight out of Hollywood.  The band is suppose to have a rare interview for their new DVD in which singer and leader, Kris Kurry, speaks candidly about the ordeal.  This Cd was originally named FAITH.

The story on the events in which this Cd was made to this day is forever changing.  Singer Kris Kurry and the band never spoke about the makings of Cocaine Cowboy, but what is known is that after the success of Rock n Roll as an indie release, many labels were in talks with the band for a full-out deal for "Cocaine Cowboy" which included complete creatvie control, large recording budgets and alloacations for their own label.  Every move the band made was 15 years ahead of it's time.  Their approach to this Cd was as well. What is known is that from the title track on, the band was alreay evolving into a power house band.

The content was advanced yet still in accord with the times.  What is so special about this record is you can hear so many styles that were to come a few years later in the emergance of the 90's rock bands.  Drop D tuning, short yet deep subject matter.  What is not known is what happened between the key members of the band and the blow up of the band.  That will be told in the DVD.
